What is ROMAN™ ?

The full name of the method is "Microfluidic Sperm Sorting Chips". It is used to obtain healthy sperm which required for in vitro fertilization, ICSI and intrauterine insemination treatments that applied to the patient is the same, except that sperm sorting is normally selected with the human eye among millions of sperm under the microscope. In this method it is selected by ROMAN™

In which treatments is ROMAN™ product used ?

ROMAN™ can be used in traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF) and Intrastoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) treatments. ROMAN™ is developed and manufactured specifically for cover all treatment methods.

'All Roads To Rome'

Where the "ROMAN™ " name come from?

All roads lead to Rome...

The saying "All roads lead to Rome" means that the same resultcan be achieved in the end, even if different paths or methods arefollowed. The origin of this saying comes from the idea that all roads leading to the city of Rome, the center of the Roman Empire during the Ancient Roman period, directly or indirectly reached the city. Rome was the intersection of roads and the center of the empire at that time; so it was thought that no matter where you set out from, you would eventually reach Rome. Today, this idiom is used figuratively to mean "It is possible to achieve the same goal with more than one path or method" or "Different efforts can lead us to the same goal."

We named our product "ROMAN™" because paths that are different but serve the same purpose lead to the same goal in the same product, same time.

Performance evaluation of "ROMAN™"

In the first performance evaluation of the ROMAN™ product, a model with Density Gradient and the most well-known microfluidic sperm sorting chip was used in the same environment. In the evaluations, concentration, mobility and DNA fragmentation index results were compared. Fertility rates, clinical pregnancy and birth rates will be evaluated through ongoing studies.

ROMAN™ Usage

  1. Incubate the semen sample to allow for liquefaction.
  2. During this period, the ROMAN™ device is kept at 37ºC until it is used.
  3. Use a 100-1000 µL pipette to load the sperm wash solution into the outlet area according to the volume recommendations in the table below. After loading, wait 10-15 seconds to allow all channels to fill completely.
  4. Using a 10-100 µL micropipette equipped with the recommended tip, slowly load the liquefied semen sample into the entry ports according to the volume recommendations in the table below. Allow the semen sample to drip freely. Do not touch the surface with the pipette tip or syringe.

  1. Afterwards, the prepared ROMAN™ device is incubated for 1 hour at 37ºC in a CO₂-free incubator.
  2. After incubation, the preparation is examined under an inverted microscope and the sperm cells that reach the outlet area are evaluated.

7. Using a micropipette, collect approximately 250 µL of sorted sperm cells in total from the outlet area.

  1. These sperm cells are then transferred to the areas where treatment will be performed.
